DIY Cornhole Boards: A Fun Way To Bond With The Kids

While you can buy a completely finished cornhole set and start playing the game right away, some choose the do-it-yourself opition as a way to bond with the kids.

There are a couple of options when it comes to diy cornhole boards.  First, you can build the cornhole boards from scratch.  This option requires a bit more planning because you need to first know how to build the boards; especially if you intend to build a regulation size set.

Once you have the plans, you need to hit up the hardware store for all the wood and parts needed to construct the boards.  You must also consider all the tools required to construct the cornhole game set once you have all the parts.  This means you must either have the tools already, borrow or rent them, or buy them; and we all know how expensive tools can be; especially if you have a preference for power tools.

The second option is to start with unfinished cornhole boards.  Unfinished cornhole boards are fully constructed and therefore require no special construction tools.  This option is often preferred because it eliminates much of the time and headaches involved in building a cornhole board from scratch.  It's also a good option for those that aren't that mechanically inclined.  Unfinished boards are fully constructed wooden boards that require nothing more than a coat of paint and clear coat for protection.

However, most people don't want a basic plain painted board.  The point of purchasing unfinished boards is to create something custom and oh yeah....AWESOME.  So painting the cornhole boards simply won't do for most who choose this option.  That's exactly what makes this such a great way project to do with the kids.  It's a way to spend time with the kids who will love using there creativity to produce something that can be fun for the entire family for years to come.

And if painting the unfinished boards seems like too much work, and you just want a small project to do with the kids, solid colored boards can be purchased instead of the unfinished boards to give your project even more of a head start.

Cornhole Dealer offers both unfinished and painted boards.  These are the same high quality boards we sell fully finished, but without the paint and graphic design, so you can design and finish the boards just the way you like.  It's the perfect way to spend an afternoon with the kids; plus our unfinished boards cost much less.
